GRANT FUNDING | PROGRAM FUNDING | COMMITTEE FORMS

Thank you for your interest in applying for a grant or program funding through the Southington Education Foundation, Inc.

To date we have awarded over $200,000 in grant funding!

The SEF provides educational grants and program funding to educators in the Southington Public schools. The grants and programs allow educators to improve the quality of public education above and beyond the conventional curriculum, identifying and addressing needs, challenges, and concerns unique to their students. The educational program should reflect the SEF mission statement as well as coordinate with existing curricula.

The SEF funds projects that enhance the educational experience and demonstrate the viability of model programs that could be implemented throughout the school system and encourage creativity and excellence in both teaching and learning, that would otherwise not be funded out of the regular Board of Education budget.

The SEF wants educators to use this opportunity to apply “out of the box thinking” in the proposed projects.

It was a pleasure being a part of the Virtual STEM University team and having the opportunity to explore our content-areas through a fresh lens to develop an interactive, multimedia approach to learning. Especially for our youngest of learners (as we represented the primary-grade voice) this type of hands-on learning is critical to deepening knowledge and encouraging critical thinking that can ignite real-world connections in a foundational way.

Simply put, thank you for the opportunity to participate and to help create something meaningful to share with our colleagues! I’d like to thank SEF for the opportunity to utilize the grant money to purchase an iPad for my classroom. As you can imagine with the vast number of apps that have become available, literacy interventions using technology are ever growing, endless and changing from day to day.

What is the difference between a "program" and a "grant"?

A GRANT requires educators to design a project which includes out-of-the box thinking while aligning with the SEF mission. Any educator interested should review the Grant Funding Application Process and then contact the Grant Committee at sef.inc.grants@gmail.com if more information is required.

A PROGRAM is a project that has been developed in partnership with the SEF and one or more organizations for the purpose of fulfilling the SEF mission. Any person or organization interested should review the Program Funding Application Process and then contact the Grant Committee at sef.inc.grants@gmail.com if more information is required.
